Anisha Charania

Integrative Child, Adolescent & Adult Therapist

Anisha is a qualified Integrative Humanistic Therapist (PGdip) and a registered member of the B.A.C.P. (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). She completed her training at Wealden Institute of Psychotherapy in 2015 and since then has worked with children, young people and adults presenting with various challenges. She now specialises in supporting those with a history of adverse childhood experiences, young and old.

As well as talking with clients, she uses creativity to support communication such as drama, art and play to create a safe space for each person according to their unique needs. Anisha embraces DDP informed practice in all of her work, using playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy, as well as other DDP principles and practices.

Before becoming a therapist Anisha had extensive experience in working with all kinds of vulnerable young people & adult groups within theatre, using workshops to support them move forward in their mental health and wellbeing. Because of this Anisha is not fazed by any of the presentations or complexities of trauma.

Since becoming a therapist she has had many varied opportunities to come alongside traumatised adults through support organisations and even The Met. She has a special interest in childhood trauma and how this gets played out in everyday functioning, parenting and in romantic relationships.

Whether she is working with young people or adults, Anisha believes in helping her clients to find self-compassion as a way of working on themselves as this encourages greater confidence and makes a start towards positive mental health and wellbeing.

Anisha believes that therapy is about respecting each person’s unique experience, actively listening to them and ensuring that they truly feel they are being heard and understood. This in turn supports clients to learn security and to be able to then take this into their relationships with others.
